Summary of this Book...
Liana, a highborn lady, who is content living on her father's estates, running everything and everyone. Everyone loved her, except for her stepmother who felt inadequate in her own home, almost forgotten by her husband, and ignored by her staff and stepdaughter. When she couldn't win the battle of winning against Liana, she threatened her husband, and the only solution was for Liana to marry. As suitors came and went, Liana didn't blink an eye as she told her father that none of them are marriage material... Until she met the stranger by the pond. She disliked him, yet was fascinated by him and his kiss. When she realized that he sat with her father at the table, asking for her hand in marriage, she agreed readily without Rogan Peregrine ever laying eyes on his bride. She thought it'd be easy to love this man, to have him hold her and kiss her and read poetry to her, but all Rogan wanted was her wealth so he can prepare for the war against his biggest enemy. No woman would sway him to feel love and forget his duties to his family and lost brothers.
This type of Book is good for...
Years ago I read this book and the name Pergerine stuck, but with so many books, I had no idea which one it was. I fell in love with the hard to love hero Rogan, who's main goal was war, not love. While some may have trouble with the book, mostly because it doesn't involve any of the Montgomeries, I still recommend the read.
Further Comments... | ||
One thing I can't remember is if there's more to the Peregrines. The second book is The Conquest, but other than that, I couldn't find out anything else. It'd be great if their line extended as well as the Montgomery's and Taggert's.
