Summary of this DVD... | ||
This is the Richard Pryor Special, from 1977. Pryor's off-color humor lends belly laughs to this Black cultural wacky variety show. His ethnocentric humor can elicit smiles, even from non-believers. There are plenty of quirky, wild characters, half of them are Pryor himself.

"Big Shirley", from the television show, What's Happening, requests that Richard Pryor has more groups on, Like "The PiPs". Pryor asks, if she means Gladys Knight and The PIPS. She says, "No, honey, I ain't said nothing about no Gladys.." We then see the PIPS, with a mike where Gladys is suppose to be. It's hilarious.

If you like the cultural humor of the 1970's, Pryor is famous for you'll like this DVD. It has a cool section, where Pryor gives a historical tribute using, young children. They represent many cultures, and tribute many cultures, with poems and dance, and song. It was refreshing.
I don't recommend this DVD because...
If Pryor's raw humor is not your cup of tea, you may not like it. It doesn't use the crude language from his famous comedy tapes.
Further Comments... | ||
It was nice to see this special again, it made me laugh and laugh. It shows another side of Pryor's humor, that is creative, and colorful, despite some of it's rawness. His version of a "preacher/hustler", was almost too much to take.
