Summary of this DVD...
This is a classic Charlie Chaplin movie from the early 1930's. This is while Chaplin was still making silent films.

This one is the story of the Little Tramp, who meets a blind girl in a city (NY?) during tough economic times. (The Depression)

The Tramp (Chaplin) falls in love with the blind girl and does everything he can to earn money to help her pay the rent for herself and her grandmother, and get the money for her to have an operation so she will be able to see.

There is comedy and heartwrenching drama.

One of the funniest scenes is when the Little Tramp enters a boxing match thing to win money to help the girl. The boxing scene is considered a film classic.

It is the charm of Chaplin's Little Tramp that shines through every scene of the movie as he falls on very hard times, but still puts the love of the girl first.

I loved this movie and I do love that Little Tramp, especially the way he walks with those feet of his pointed out. lol
This type of DVD is good for...
who wants to know why this film makes Best Films of All time lists repeatedly even though it is early 1930's and silent. When you watch it, you will see.
I especially liked...
Chaplin. I liked everything about him in this film.

I also like the message in the beginning that rich people and politicians erect statues whilst the people around them starve.
Further Comments...
The scene in the beginning where the politician blathers on was a funny commentary on public figures and politicians. They still talk all the time and say very little, just as they did here.

I give it five stars overall, considering the time when it was made. It is a brilliant commentary on society.
