The Robe

NOTE: This review is a WORK IN PROGRESS.
I created this product review for my "Thinking about NanoWrimo - Rebelliously! 2014 project. I am displaying this review essentially the way it was written as I rushed to reach my word count goal. I hope to edit it but these words will do for now.

What happened to Jesus' robe?

The Bible tells us the soldiers gambled for His clothing.

In order for someone to be declared a saint in the Catholic church, I am pretty sure that makes have to happen associated with relics from that person. If makes happen from something that a person like you or me has handled, what might one expect from a garment worn by our Lord?

It appears that the early Christians did not concern themselves with his garments. I watch and read with fascination about the Shroud of Turin. I am intrigued by Douglas's fictional tale of what happened to the soldier who won the robe of Jesus.

I have read The Robe many times. I still thrill at the sword pay when Marcellus assumes command of the fort. I think of Demetrius, new to slavehood, diving into the family's pool. The twins serving breakfast to Marcellus and his sister. His mother's attempt to be brave when her son is about to leave to go to a godforsaken place

I cringe when Marcellus slaps Demetrius. I love Demetrius when he turns down his freedom out of love for his master and stands by his side as he faces his demons.

I am pleased when Demetrius covers the rude centurion. I enjoy the times in the vineyard.

I cry when Marcellus and Diana go to their death. I still cry, every time.

This book is chockful with adventure. It has a scriptural backstory. It is fun to read and well-written.

I have not only read the book many times, I have also watched the movie. The book is better!
