Summary of this DVD... | ||
Two sisters (played by Maggie Smith and Judi Dench) are vacationing in their home on Cornwall, on the English Coast, when a young man washes up on the beach. The time frame is 1930's or late 1920's. The young man is injured and speaks no English, but the ladies nurse him back to health and teach him to speak some English. He is Polish and a virtuoso violinist, so there is the discovery of that. Germany and a local woman who speaks German looms over the whole movie.
This type of DVD is good for...
anyone who enjoys a nice story in a beautiful setting.
I especially liked... | ||
Maggie Smith and Judi Dench together. They are quite a pair.
I recommend this DVD because...
I enjoyed this DVD, but the ending left me wondering. There is something unresolved about the fate of a Polish man in Europe during this time between the World Wars. Germany decimated Poland. I felt like I wanted something resolved about his future, not just leave me to wonder about it.
