Summary of this Book...
This book is absolutely my favorite book. Period. I am a fantasy fanatic, and this is actually what got me started down the writing path. ----- ----- Frodo is just a simple Hobbit living in peace in the Shire that is until his uncle leaves him a ring with powers beyond comprehension. Frodo discovers the ring is the dreaded Ring of Power forged by the dark lord Sauron who seeks for it every day. He is advised to destroy it so Sauron will never be able to use it as a weapon again. With the help of a wizard and a few faithful friends Frodo embarks on his quest, but not until peril has struck does he realize just how dangerous a task he undertook. Join him and The Fellowship of the Ring as they strive to uphold the laws of good in a land darkening with evil. Will Frodo be able to destroy the ring? Or will he succumb to its power and fail, letting the world fall under the rule of the dark lord? YOU HAVE TO READ IT TO FIND OUT!
This type of Book is good for...
The fantasy fan who loves epic adventures and quests with evil lords thrown in. This book is like the mother of all fantasy books.
I especially liked... | ||
EVERYTHING!!! One of my favorite parts is that, even though I've read it multiple times, I discover something new each time I delve into it.
When I finished reading this Book I wanted to...
Read more, more, more, more, MORE!
This Book made me feel...
It overwhelmed me with so many emotions it's hard to describe. One chapter is pure bliss, another is absolute despair. You'll laugh, you'll cry, you'll jump out of your skin, you might even say aww a few times. That's what makes this book extra special - it engages your emotions.
The author of this Book...
J.R.R. Tolkien is the author. While many people groan at his name for his long descriptions I actually find them amazingly enjoyable. I am a very visual person which is why I guess I like them so much. I can see everything he describes, and each description is fresh and new - he doesn't use the same old phrases over and over again.
I recommend this Book because...
This edition is a good way to get all three books together in one volume if you don't want a separate book for each. It also has a great appendix section in the back. Don't be fooled into thinking it's just a list of people, or dates, or whatever. IT IS NOT! It is actually a continuation of the story that just wasn't complete or 'necessary' enough for Tolkien to include it in any of his works. It talks a lot about what happens to the Fellowship after Frodo leaves and also what happened before that brought the events of the books to pass.
I don't recommend this Book because...
I have the paperback edition which is what I suggest you not have. Because it is such a big book (like 2 1/2 inches thick) the cover bends really easily. I've only read through it twice and it's already peeling and bending on me. It does have a hardcover version which I would totally recommend.
