Summary of this Book...
A 16 year old girl who is terminally ill with cancer meets a boy at a support group, who himself is in remission after losing a leg to the disease. The story charts their crossed paths, a friendship which develops in to more, an encounter with a misanthropic writer and their extraordinary views on life, death and the universe......
This type of Book is good for...
People who like teen/ young adult fiction, novels which are not too complicated to read and which are primarily about people and their feelings and emotions.
I especially liked... | ||
the style in which the story is told. I was glued to the book from the start and always wanted to know what was going to happen next! The story is told in the first person as Hazel, the main character and throughout the story, I felt that I really got to know her as the character is so cleverly portrayed. I also liked the supporting characters in the book and felt that the writer gave an honest and realistic insight in to a traumatic situation - however, rather than be completely depressing, there are many funny and uplifting parts to the novel - whilst this is a book about teenagers suffering from cancer, the writer makes us vary aware that they are still "just" teenagers.
When I finished reading this Book I wanted to...
read other novels by the same author!
This Book made me feel...
Interested, curious, admiration, sad and involved.
I recommend this Book because...
This book is a great read - it is told in quite an unusual way and the description on the jacket cover doesn't really do it justice. If you pick this book up you won't want to put it down!!
