Summary of this ... | ||
For me, the blurb always says it all, but I'll give some details anyway. I should say, SPOILER ALERT. I'll likely add in some detail that may spoil part of the story. To get right down to the basics, every person over the age of 15 disappears simultaneously. Of course, this causes chaos. If the person who "blinks out" was driving, their car veers off somewhere and crashes. If they're cooking, the stove's left on and a fire is caused. All this, and only 14 year olds and younger to deal with it whilst living in the FAYZ. To make matters worse, some of the kids have new powers. And animals have mutated. In this book, you'll meet coyotes that talk and snakes with wings, but it's all done in such a way that it's very serious and there's not really much to laugh about.

I struggle with this section. It's good for just casual reading. It takes most people quite a few days to finish reading a book. I'm a speed-reader, so it only took me 4 hours. It's a good book, that I didn't want to put down.
I especially liked... | ||
The kid with the most power is autistic. I think that's a spoiler alert. The fact that an autistic child is included at all, is admirable to the writer.

Hm, I can't think of anything I didn't like. It was all pretty good.

Buy the next one! Although it works reasonably well as a stand-alone, there are still some parts of the story that would need to be tied-up in future books.
Further Comments... | ||
Overall a very enjoyable book. I would be compelled to buy the next book, but with self-control, I don't really feel the need to. The characters were likable and I enjoyed reading about them in a mutated world with the Darkness after them!
