Summary of this Book...
The story begins with a flashback from 1950 Sin-City unsolved murder and moves to current day where a celebrity murder and the hit-and-run of a young boy take place. They don't seem to have any common ground and Lieutenant Jonathan Stride is assigned the case since he has left Duluth, MN to be with his love Serena Dial in Las Vegas, NV. She is working the hit-and-run and he is trying to investigate the celebrity murder.
Both cases become intertwined and lead back to the 1950 unsolved murder while taking you through the underside of Sin-City.
This type of Book is good for...
This is a thriller/mystery/homicide novel which is the second in Brian Freeman's Jonathan Stride series.
I especially liked...
The pace and characterizations of this book are very good. Clues are presented along the way and not held back from the reader so it's easy to get involved with solving the case or trying to figure it out as the story progresses.
I didn't like...
There seemed to be too many characters with a bit of overly enthusiastic backstories. The main character needed to step aside for much of the book due to all the other characters that the author gave a little too much information.
When I finished reading this Book I wanted to...
I will keep reading this series. I think there are some good qualities to the way the author handles plots and characters. I am curious if this particular book was just a little overthought and if there is more balance upcoming in the series.
This Book made me feel...
I felt like I had a good read but wishing the author had paired down on the extra complications added to the book that took more away than added to the enjoyment.
The author of this Book...
Brian Freeman
I recommend this Book because...
This is starting to be a good series so far. The author takes a lot of care with his characterizations, although, I thought this book got a little carried away with too many details.
Further Comments...
I am liking this series by Brian Freeman, so far. The author has well planned plots and believable characters. The pace of his books are very good and he delivers an enjoyable read.
