Summary of this DVD... | ||
This DVD is based on the book by Markus Zusak. I much prefer the book, the the movie was entertaining. There is a lot more to the book. It is a story told from the point of view of death of Germany as it descended into hell under the control of the Nazis (Fascists). In this story, Death observes a little girl who is obsessed with books and reading. I will not give away all of the plot, but she is give up by her mother (who is thought to be a Communist and therefore an enemy of the State) to a couple who are very caring. They give her a good home, but no home is safe from the atrocities of Nazi Germany. The story is told by Death (in the book) about normal people caught up in the horror and senselessness of it all.
This type of DVD is good for...
anyone who wants to know the basic story, but if you really want to know about it, check out the book.
I especially liked... | ||
Sophie Nelisse as Liesel and Geoffrey Rush as the Papa.
This DVD made me feel...
like it was a good movie and they did what they could with telling a complicated story.
I recommend this DVD because...
it wasn't bad. I liked it. If I hadn't read the book, I would have liked it more. The book is fabulous. The cast is good, though. They really are!
