Summary of this Book...
These are the complete Short Stories (some even unfinished at the time of his death) of Ernest Hemingway. Since, he is, by far, my favorite author of all time, I enjoyed reading them in this collection. Quite a few of them are ones I have read before. The most famous is The Snows of Kilamanjaro, which is a favorite of mine, along with "My Old Man", and "A Canary For One". The settings are varied and there is even a short story about a bull, and another about a lion. Hemingway wrote a lot about bullfighting, but he, himself never killed a bull. So, as hooves, I can read him with an open mind and I do.
This type of Book is good for...
anyone who wants to see the Hemingway style of writing and how it developed and what a fine judge of character he was.
I especially liked... | ||
A Canary for One - I think that one, which is set on a train in Europe - is my favorite. Some people consider "The Snows of Kilimanjaro" a masterpiece. I am not sure I agree with that, but it is a fine story.
When I finished reading this Book I wanted to...
read more about Ernest and so I am.
This Book made me feel...
like I know Ernest Hemingway a little better.
The author of this Book...
This author is a fascinating person, besides being a great storyteller.
I recommend this Book because...
this author, (who is the most well known author of the 205h Century according to amazon.com) dealt with rejection for about three years when he was starting out. Those guys who rejected his stories look like a bunch of morons. Who are they anyway? No one knows but just about everyone (who doesn't live in a cave) knows of Ernest Hemingway.
