Summary of this Book...
During her seventh month of pregnancy, the Boston detective D.D.Warren accepts a consulting role on the set of a movie in a graveyard. What looked like a simple task becomes a murder investigation when a former policeman, who had been the consultant before D.D., was found beaten to death. The story, which can be considered a short novella, has seven chapters, and each chapter begins with a short ‘aside’ piece that has a step from a murder blog. Each step has blood-chilling details on selecting a victim, picking a weapon, committing the act, and disposing the body properly. The plot is wrapped up a la Hollywood, a bit on the too smooth and happy side, but the writing of the author still shines with excellent storytelling and a gripping storyline. As short as it is, the story has strong suspense, heightened by the tension of a pregnancy and birthing pains. I listened to this story from its CD-audio version. The story fits in only two CDs and is read professionally by Kirsten Potter, whose voice probably enhanced the story for me.
I especially liked... | ||
The suspense and tension, but I feel some facts of the story pertaining to the crime could be explained more clearly.
The author of this Book...
is Lisa Gardner, a noted author of several detective stories and other mysteries, such as the D.D. Warren series. Lisa Gardner's first book was The Perfect Husband.
I recommend this Book because...
it gives the reader/listener an enjoyable hour or two.
