Summary of this DVD...
This is a screwball comedy that was made in 1940, around the end of screwball comedies. It has always been one of my favorites. It stars Katherine Hepburn, Cary Grant and Jimmy Stewart.

Hepburn plays Tracy Lord, a rich Philadelphia heiress who is about to embark on her second marriage to a boring dolt named, George. Her first marriage was to the dashing C.K. Dexter Haven, played to perfection by Cary Grant.

The press wants to cover her wedding secretly and the press mogul sends an earnest writer, Mike Connor (Jimmy Stewart) and his photographer girlfriend (Ruth Hussey) to cover the action.

It seems that there is unfinished emotional business between C.K. Dexter Haven and his former wife.

This comedy was written for Hepburn by Phillip Barry and she acquired the rights to produce it. The part was made for her, but Cary Grant and Jimmy Stewart really shine too.

Jimmy Stewart's only Oscar was for his role as Mike Connor, the reverse snob of the piece.
This type of DVD is good for...
anyone who enjoys a screwball comedy. This is one of Cary Grant's best performances and that's saying something.
I especially liked...
Cary Grant and Jimmy Stewart together. They are pretty hilarious.
When I finished viewing this DVD I wanted to...
watch more of Stewart's movies. I haven't seen a lot of them.
The cast of this DVD...
knows how to keep the action and dialogue flowing. This is fast paced and very funny. It does not suffer from being 73 years old.
