Summary of this Book...
Bear Grylls autobiography - following Bear from his early childhood (right from the moment his sister Lara christened him Bear) through to fatherhood of his three sons. Bear covers growing up on the Isle of Wight in southern England, entering SAS selection (the British special forces) and climbing Everest. He throws in daily advice, spiritual and survival, as well as heart-warming stories of his early dates with Shara (his wife) and several near-death experiences.
This type of Book is good for...
Anyone who enjoys his TV series Man Vs Wild/Born Survivor, and anyone who enjoys survival stories.
I especially liked... | ||
The dry sense of humour Bear uses and the self-depreciation - he enjoys bigging up his friends and crew members, whilst telling embarrassing stories about himself.
I didn't like... | ||
Sometimes Bear tries for too much drama or leaving a chapter on a cliff-hanger - he really doesn't need to, much of the stuff he's describing is dramatic enough!
When I finished reading this Book I wanted to...
Go climb a mountain. Any mountain. I wanted to do something.
The author of this Book...
Is insane. ....but in a good way. A former member of the Special Air Service (British special forces), one of the youngest Brits to climb Everest, TV survival presenter, dedicated christian and Chief Scout.
