Summary of this DVD... | ||
This is a movie starring Marilyn Monroe and Tom Ewell. It is based on a successful broadway play. The play was about a married man in New York, whose wife goes away for the summer. The man (in the play) ends up having an affair with the beatiful single girl who lives upstairs in their Manhattan apartment building (played by Monroe). The movies in those days were very restrictive so they had to change the script so that the man doesn't have an affair - he just flirts and imagines things. It is kind of quirky and cute.
This type of DVD is good for...
anyone who wants to watch a nice romantic comedy when Marilyn Monroe was at her peak of fame and beauty. This one was filmed during her short marriage to baseball great Joe Dimaggio. It includes the scene where she stands on the subway grate in her billowing white dress.
I especially liked... | ||
Marilyn Monroe and the reference in the script to her. I thought it was a pretty cute movie, although Tom Ewell didn't do much for me in the part he played. Carolyn Jones (Morticia Addams on TV) has a small part as a nurse in one of the man's fantasies that is pretty funny.
When I finished viewing this DVD I wanted to...
watch more old movies. It sure beats watching the news these days.
I recommend this DVD because...
it shows you what the big fuss about Marilyn Monroe was all about. There is and has never been anyone quite at luminous on the screen.
