Summary of this Book...
When Clary Fray heads out to the Pandemonium Club in New York City, she hardly expects to witness a murder. Much less a murder committed by three teenagers covered with odd markings. This is Clary's first meeting with the Shadowhunters, warriors dedicated to ridding the earth of demons--keeping the odd werewolves and vampires in line. It's also her first meeting with gorgeous, golden-haired Jace. Within twenty-four hours Clary is pulled into Jace's world with a vengeance, when her mother disappears and Clary herself is attacked by a demon. Clary somehow fights the demon off, amazing even Jace. But why would demons be interested in an ordinary mundane like Clary? (I didn't read the movie tie-in version, but the ASIN didn't work for some reason.)

I especially liked... | ||
The concept of this series is brilliant. It starts off pretty well too - with magical creatures that live unknown among the residents of New York City, a good-looking hero, a fast-paced incident that changes the life of the heroine ...
I didn't like... | ||
However, upon finishing, I'm not entirely sure I know where the book took me after a promising start! I almost feel like I will need to read the book again.
When I finished reading this Book I wanted to...
The movie has JUST come out in the UK. So, I'm going to watch that before deciding whether to read the rest of the trilogy.

Cassandra Clare lives in Brooklyn. She has worked as an entertainment journalist for The Hollywood Reporter, has published several short stories and is the author of the popular internet parody The Very Secret Diaries.
