Summary of this Book...
In the first book of the trilogy, Anne Rice, writing as A.N. Roquelaure, retells the Beauty story and probes the unspoken implications of this lush, suggestive tale by exploring its undeniable connection to sexual desire. Here the Prince awakens Beauty, not with a kiss, but with sexual initiation. His reward for ending the hundred years of enchantment is Beauty's complete and total enslavement to him
This type of Book is good for...
Anne Rice fans or people who like twisted versions of classic Fairy Tales
I especially liked... | ||
This book sucks you right in from the off. It can be hard going at times and I found myself feeling so helpless and sorry towards the main character Beauty. The reader should stop expecting any knight in shinning armor to come rescue her any time soon. It was just a breathtaking book which I both hated and loved for different reasons. I don't think this is a book for a WI Book Club!
When I finished n/a this Book I wanted to...
The other two books are on my list of possible books to read in the future, but I'm not sure where the books can go now so I wont be falling over myself to read them.
The n/a of this Book... | ||
Anne Rice is one of America's most read and celebrated authors. Best known for her epic Vampire Chronicles - Interview with the Vampire, The Vampire Lestat and The Queen of the Damned - she is famed for uniting the supernatural and visible worlds through her stories. Writing as A.N. Roquelaure, her Sleeping Beauty series is a daring retelling of the classic fairy tale.
I recommend this Book because...
I would ONLY recommend you read this if you have a strong stomach, a very open and liberal mind and are not looking for a romance novel!
