Summary of this Book...
This is the first graphics novel, manga as it is called, that I have read since Tom Mix Western Comics. (Yes, I am that old!)

Odd Thomas of Pico Mundo, fry cook and psychic, sets on to find the killer of a young boy and soon the young boy appears to him. Odd’s soulmate, Stormy Llewellyn, has a childhood friend, Sherry Sheldon, who has been baby-sitting for the boy and who found his stabbed body. The murderer has been sending Sherry lots of mail composed of letters cut out from magazines.

Is the murderer, inside his warped mind, after killing other neighborhood children or is he obsessed with Sherry? This is the question, Odd Thomas, the police chief Wyatt Porter, and Stormy have to answer to find the killer who is foxy and slippery.

The characters are masterfully drawn by the graphics artist, Queenie Chan. Actually, they are quite convincing as each depiction is in lines and not in words as in a regular novel. This has given a concrete likeness to the characters in the reader's mind close to what the author intended for them.

The protagonist Odd Thomas is a star character as he uses his gifts to help the dead and the living alike, and because he is so humble, he is someone a reader roots for. Both he and Stormy had traumatic childhoods and this may be part of the reason they are drawn to each other.

Even though, a graphic novel lacks the in-depth look at the incidents as in other Koontz novels and in the Odd Thomas series, it is a lot of fun to read.

I read the entire book in less than half an hour, but I am familiar with the characters and the setting from devouring all of the volumes of Odd Thomas series. I can't say the enjoyment would be the same for a person who has not been acquainted with the characters and the way they operate in life.

This book, borrowed from the local library, made me curious about manga. I think I’ll try other novels written in the manga format.

This type of Book is good for...
easy reading and enjoyment.
I especially liked...
the drawing of Stormy's character
When I finished reading this Book I wanted to...
read other books in the manga format
The author of this Book...
is Dean Koontz, and the artist who brought the characters to life with her lines is Queenie Chan.
I recommend this Book because...
it is an easy, fun read and the characters are skillfully drawn by Queenie Chan.
