Summary of this Book...
After her mother dies in childbirth, Moira Maclean goes to live in a convent, having little contact with the men of her family. She is very intelligent and works hard to make the abbey more successful and productive, working with pottery, crops, etc. One night, when she is 29, she receives a message from her father - his dying wish was for her to marry the man who brings her the message. She does her duty and the marriage is quickly consummated. Unfortunately, Moira soon finds out that her father is very much alive and she has wed the clan enemy. Some months later, Moira travels to her husband's lands and they must learn to forgive and forget the way their marriage started and forge a new life together.
I didn't like... | ||
Moira was portrayed as intelligent and fiesty. Yet she struggles to understand and accept that her husband married her to save many lives that were being lost in the clan wars. She hides her knowledge from him, despite all evidence showing that he would be delighted and accepting of it. I found her contradictory. I also really disliked the fact that Ian kept remembering their hasty consummation with longing to repeat it, when it is highly likely it was as awful for him as it was for her. I could appreciate him wanting his wife, but not the rose-coloured memories of the consummation.
When I finished n/a this Book I wanted to...
I didn't finish this book. It was very easy to put it down and although I picked it up again every so often over a period of several weeks, eventually I gave up on it. It just didn't keep my interest.

Further Comments... | ||
I have read many (MANY!) romance books, and have a particular love for those set in the Scottish highlands. This had everything I wanted in a book...except the ability to keep me interested. There are so many great books out there with similar plots and settings, I finally decided not to waste my time on a mediocre one that I really had to struggle to read.
