Summary of this DVD...
This is something I found on Netflix. It is a 4 part miniseries about a young man who is trying to find out who is he and what he should do with his life. It is set in England of 1870's and deals with the Jewish culture and how Jewish people were treated and viewed in those days.

I found it more interesting than I expected - the thing that attracted me to it was the fact that Hugh Bonneville (Robert in Downton Abbey) has a prominent part. He plays quite a scoundrel.
I especially liked...
Hugh Dancy in the lead role.
I didn't like...
Hugh Bonneville! What a stinker of a husband!
This DVD made me feel...
like I know more about things that went on in the 1870's. It was not a very nice time to be Jewish in England.
The cast of this DVD...
is good. I did not care for Romola Garai's portrayal of Gwendolyn so that was a hang-up for me.
Further Comments...
I found this entertaining, but not wildly so. It surprised me as I was not thinking about the antisemitism angle when I started watching. That was interesting to see how narrowminded things were in that time frame.
