The first book in the Sookie Stackhouse series, upon which the television show True Blood is based. This book introduces the main characters and tells the story of Sookie falling in love with a vampire.

Twilight for adults? Fans of the show might want to read the book that inspired it.

It was an entertaining, guilty-pleasure read. I also love anything set in Louisiana.

Of course, I missed the characters in the TV show that are not in the book, particularly Tara. I think that's a common sentiment among watchers and readers.

If you're a fan of vampire fiction but want one that is geared more toward adults than young adults, this might be the series for you.

I really enjoy the issues the book and show approach, particularly the racism/stereotyping against vampires, which is, of course, a reflection of the reader's society, too.
