Such Longing is a book of tender poetry, beautifully crafted, and in my opinion, worth reading again and again. The themes of sadness and loneliness are dominant throughout, and most of the poems are introspective with nature as their backdrop.

Reading Brian's poetry earlier, here in Writing.com, I had some idea of his poetry, but this volume has exceeded my expectations, and beautifully so, for that certain inimitable delicacy in his lines.

This collection starts with the poem Better Love Tomorrow and ends with Wait for Snow, these two poems acting as bookends for about twenty-five poems or so. The gentle plea of “Returning love, blossom slow this time” is my favorite line in A Slower Return.

Despite the poems about depression like Are You Safe in Your Houses, there exists slightly happier lines and lover’s statements like, “My legs like coils // leap at your call” in Clutching Leaves. As a plus, some poetic tools such as anaphora and assonance are present but without becoming overdone.

In short, Brian’s work is unique and honestly profound. It would be wise for the admirers of poetry to take a look at this volume.
