Summary of this Book...
The clammer Billy in Long Island’s North shore, Huntington Bays, finds a brass ring that promises to change his life, and change happens when he meets Erin, writer and media personality with practically no scruples. Billy is a wood carver on the side, and the statue he creates after Erin, he names Jinx. The story has a lot of political overtones and detailed site and action descriptions. The characters are well developed and the pace increases as the story progresses. A moral argument is alluded to, and the story ends on a high note to the reader’s satisfaction.
I especially liked...
the scene-setting skills of the author. Plus, I’m familiar with the area where Billy lives and I liked the edge in the political point of view.
The author of this Book...
Kenneth C. Crowe, was a journalist, writing for Newsday from 1963 until his retirement in 1999. Jinx is his third novel.

He was part of an investigative team that won the Pulitzer Prize Gold Medal in 1970 and a long list of professional awards and honors.
I recommend this Book because...
It was very well written and it talked of a few things I didn't know well, such as clamming, political backstabbing, and making sculptures out of wood.
Further Comments...
I wasn’t familiar with this writer’s fiction, although I am sure I must have read a few things he wrote in Newsday. This book has a paperback edition for sale, but I read it free as an e-book on Kindle. *Smile*
