Summary of this DVD... | ||
This is an old black an white movie that was made around 1960 or so. It won best picture for that year at the Oscars. I am into old movies, so I wanted to check this out. It is the story of a corporate schlub (Jack Lemmon) who gets used by his superiors. They "borrow" his apartment for their assignations as they are all married men. The big boss (Fred MacMurray) borrows the apartment to have relations with Fran, the elevator operator, who is C.C. Baxter (Lemmon)'s dream girl and problems ensue.
This type of DVD is good for...
anyone who likes Jack Lemmon and Shirley MacLaine. She especially is luminous in this one.
I especially liked... | ||
Shirley MacLaine more than usual. I have mostly seen her play a mean old bat in movies like Steel Magnolias and the like.
I didn't like... | ||
the dopey sexist premise, but it was made in 1960 so whatever.
When I finished viewing this DVD I wanted to...
trade it in. I did not love it enough to watch it again.
This DVD made me feel...
like I have a better understanding of just how appealing Shirley MacLaine was in her youth. I am a bit in love with Jack Lemmon so anything he does pretty much is a hit with me.
I recommend this DVD because...
it is entertaining in a dopey sexist dated kind of way. Lemmon is pretty funny in his dealings with his "superiors" in the workplace.
