Summary of this DVD... | ||
This is the Jane Austen story of women who lose their fortune and how they encounter cruelty and kindness in the world.
This type of DVD is good for...
anyone who likes Jane Austen and enjoyed Pride and Prejudice (BBC Version) This one was made around the same time and has a lot of similarities.
I especially liked... | ||
Alan Rickman and Gemma Jones.
I didn't like... | ||
Hugh Grant or Kate Winslett.
When I finished viewing this DVD I wanted to...
take a break and go to sleep. So, I did.
This DVD made me feel...
somewhat sleepy but it is a good story. Could just be me.
The cast of this DVD... | ||
is very uneven. I thought Kate Winsell overacted and Hugh Grant was a mumbler. I couldn't see what Emma Thompson might see in him. He was tonguetied for the whole movie. I like him normally, but didn't find him the least bit appealing here.
I recommend this DVD because...
it is a pretty good story. Hugh Laurie has a small part and it is fun to see him so much younger and more attractive than he is now. He's still as grouchy here.
Further Comments... | ||
This is a good story and it got a lot of positive remoos at the time it came out and was nominated for a lot of Oscars. It is engaging, but if You want to see excellence in casting, you should watch the BBC Version of Pride and Prejudice instead. This is a good one to watch if you can't get enough of the same kind of movie and want to overlook overacting and underacting on the part of a talented cast. HOOVES
