The Love of a Good Woman is a book of eight short stories by Canadian author, Alice Munro. I picked up the book from a display item and was pleasantly surprised by my choice. Short stories are not normally my thing but after reading Ms. Munro's thought provoking tales, I have had a change of heart.

Her stories, each seventy pages or less, left me staring at the page, lost in my own reverie. Many of the stories leave much of the acutual conclusion to the reader's imagination, guiding one down a path just enough to spark and befuddle.

Human choice with love and passion getting into the mix is the theme of most of the stories. Many of the choices made are understandable and many are not, depending upon the reader's point of view.

Ms. Munro's writing style transforms fictional lives into non-fiction for this reader, bringing her words to life on the paper.

any mature reader who likes to think about the reasons people make the choices they do.

the very first story, named from the title of the book. Many may not agree with the choice made but many among us may have made that same choice. Who's to say?
