Summary of this DVD...
Peter O'Toole portrays a lovable and eccentric doctor intent on cloning his dead wife. He is joined by an ever expanding cast of characters as they all discover the meaning of love, and ultimately, the meaning of life itself.
This type of DVD is good for...
A date night, reliving the 90's, or enjoying one of those movies where a number of seemingly different plotlines all come together at the end.
I especially liked...
The scenes between Peter O'Toole and his lab assistant, played by Vincent Spano. The doctor's theories about love seem so... effortless... yet well thought out and logical, and they seem to flow naturally from an actor like O'Toole.
I didn't like...
The brief nudity. The movie would have been just as good without it, and it seems a bit 'stuck in' without a true reason. This movie is so pure in it's message, that message would have come through just as well with some old fashioned sensibilities.
When I finished viewing this DVD I wanted to...
Watch it again, only this time with someone I love!
This DVD made me feel...
As if love can conquer all, even illness and possibly death itself.
The cast of this DVD...
Peter O'Toole as Doctor Harry Wolper, research assistant Boris, played by Vincent Spano, MASH veteran David Ogden Stiers, the Doctor's nemesis, and a very young Mariel Hemmingway and Virgina Madsen.
I recommend this DVD because...
The story weaves it's way through your heart, and takes two final unexpected turns. The ending, though a bit of a stretch, fits nicely with the almost storybook quality this film seems to have.
Further Comments...
I like a movie that evokes some emotion from me. While watching this film for the first time in many years, I was reminded just why I loved it so the first time, so many years ago. If you want to believe that love can win when you put your heart and soul into loving another, then whip out your credit card, and head on over to Amazon!.
