Summary of this DVD... | ||
Takamachi Nanoha, a third grader is caught up in a series of events which results in her working with a talking ferret to seal 'jewel seeds'. However after using her new found magic to defeat the phenomenon caused by the jewel seeds, as well as seal several of them, It gets a bit more complicated when a rival for the jewel seeds appears. Fate Testarossa, a girl ordered by her cruel mother to gather the jewel seeds for an unknown purpose. I have to admit it really does seem like a pretty generic plot at first glance. But the show has a lot of unexpected depth to it.
This type of DVD is good for...
Fans of shows such as 'Card Captor Sakura', as well as anyone who's either willing to keep an open minded about a seemingly 'kiddy' show. I'd say it's also great for a younger audience. Though if that doesn't bother you then you're even more likely to enjoy it.
I especially liked... | ||
How surprisingly excellent the lead characters are. Due to it being a character driven show it's especially important here. Though honestly the action scenes were also vastly more entertaining then I would have expected at first.
When I finished viewing this DVD I wanted to...
Smile happily for a moment before watching the next series. ^^
This DVD made me feel...
For the most part it thoroughly interested and entertained me.
The cast of this DVD... | ||
Is exceptional where it counts for most, in the lead characters Fate and Nanoha. While they may seem fairly shallow at first, they end up being well fleshed out. The voice actresses behind them also happen to be perfectly suited to the roles. They also contribute to the series by being the singers of the opening and ending theme songs. Songs which I found to be rather well suited. Though I would advise against the english language track.. the quality is far from equal.
I recommend this DVD because...
It's a simple story at its core but it should still be able to throw out a few unexpected elements. Which means that you can enjoy it while staying fairly relaxed but without getting bored (hopefully).
I don't recommend this DVD because...
If you are someone who prefers quite serious shows then this probably isn't for you. As I said the plot is also fairly basic so if an intricate plot is a must for you, you should probably give this a miss.
Further Comments... | ||
To better express my feelings about my favourite part of the show, Fate Testarossa, I have composed a poem: Born from a fractured mind Her past woes unspoken Yet nothing if not kind Bowed but still unbroken Once she was but a slave Living by another's whim Even then she was brave Despite her trials, grim She weathered the storm All thanks to a friend One so boundlessly warm To and beyond the very end
