Summary of this Book...
This book is about a successful novelist who has lost his young wife suddenly. He also loses (for a time) the ability to write. As he deals with grief, he gradually discovers that his wife was doing something in secret. He returns to their vacation home in hopes of easing his grief and starts to discover some things about his wife and about their vacation home. This writer (Mike Noonan) befriends a young woman who is fighting for custody of her 3 year old daughter. The person on the other side of the custody fight is her billionaire father-in-law. The fight reviews somethings about Mike and his past that illuminate the death of his wife and what she was doing before she died.
This type of Book is good for...
anyone who loves to read. This is quite an involved tale.
I especially liked... | ||
the last 200 pages of the book. I literally could not put it down at this point.
When I finished reading this Book I wanted to...
read something completely different for now because I am emotionally spent as a reader.
This Book made me feel...
like I had read a masterpiece. I wasn't sure I liked Stephen King's Fiction after trying to read some of the wilder, more violent stuff. Now, I know that I am a fan.
The author of this Book...
sure nows how to hook a reader. I read this over several months but the last 200 pages I read in the past 24 hours. The book is over 700 pages. There is a lot of action in this book and it hooks you in. If I wasn't hooked I wouldn't have kept reading. From the very first words, I knew I had to find out what was going on even though some of it is definitely slower paced than the ending.
I recommend this Book because...
it is a compelling and original story that is unforgetable.
Further Comments... | ||
I now eventually want to read more of Stephen King's work. I know I have to look at it first and determine whether the violence is too much for me. I couldn't read Cell because of the way it started, but this one hooked me in from the get-go.
