Summary of this DVD... | ||
This is a story of a writer who is engaged to a woman. Over a weekend in NY to plan his wedding, his fiance stands him up. He meets a woman who is similarly stood up by her fiance. She is there to plan her own wedding. Despite their previous commitments, they cannot help but be attracted to one another. They fall in love although neither one can bring themselves to act upon the feelings.
This type of DVD is good for...
anyone who enjoys a good romantic comedy. I do not know why this wasn't released generally to the movies.
I especially liked... | ||
Michael Vartan, of course, and the plot. There is also a secondary plot involving Vartan's best friend that is quite good. The friend is played by Michael Rispoli.
I didn't like... | ||
Natasha Henstridge. Her acting is not the best. Michael Vartan makes up for it, but she is sort of wooden and forced in her acting.
When I finished viewing this DVD I wanted to...
see another movie starring Michael Vartan. This is one of his best efforts to date. I first saw him in the Drew Barrymore film, Never Been Kissed.
This DVD made me feel...
happy and like I'd seen a good romantic comedy that was fast paced and with intelligent dialogue. I love that!
I recommend this DVD because...
I actually love it! It is a romantic comedy that is well written and clever. The only thing that keeps it from being great is Natasha Henstridge and if you can get past her wooden performance, it is quite good.
Further Comments... | ||
The first time I saw this was a version that was on Italian TV - it was dubbed. I had an English version of the script to follow along with it. It was only later that I saw the original version in English. The story takes place at The Plaza Hotel in NY City. Recently I saw it on Lifetime TV - it is rebroadcast a lot. It is a good story if you can get past the lack of chemistry between Vartan and Henstridge. If Drew Barrymore or someone like Meg Ryan had been cast in this role, this would have been a huge hit.
