Summary of this DVD... | ||
(6/7/2005) "Jaws: 30th Anniversary Edition". Yes, this is a "double dip" DVD (supplementing/replacing the "Jaws: 25th Anniversary Edition" DVDs), but as with any good double dip release, there are a few compelling reasons to bite the bullet and lay down some more cash. Three reasons to get the new "Jaws: 30th Anniversary Edition" release: 1) If you want the complete 2 hour "Making Of" Documentary on DVD. The original documentary (created for the Laserdisc edition) was 2 hours long, but was chopped in half for the previous 25th Anniversary DVD. So, if "Making-of" documentaries are your thing, the "Jaws: 30th Anniversary Edition" DVD would be good to buy. -or- 2) If you want the original theatrical sound. A few film purists made some noise when the previous editions of "Jaws" were issued with remixed Dolby 5.1 and DTS audio, not offering the option of the original dual mono track, which this release has. Many people prefer 5.1 remixes on older movies, but I gotta say, I'm not one of them. This is my own personal reason for buying the 30th Anniversary release. -or- 3) If you don't already own "Jaws" on DVD. If you already have the "Jaws: 25th Anniversary Edition" DVD and you are happy with it, then hey, more power to you. But if you haven't got a copy of "Jaws" yet, then this 30th anniversary edition is the best one available to buy. That is, at least until the "Super-Duper-Deluxe-Limited-Director's-Producer's-Key Grip's-Special-Edition Cut" comes out in UMD, or HD-DVD or Betamax, or whatever the next big format is. | ||
