Tragedy and misfortune befall every member, some more than others. Its a dark and engrossing story of a family haunted by a wickedly seductive being, named Lasher, and one woman's struggle to free herself from this demon's clutches.

Entertainment and losing yourself within the pages.

The rich backdrop of New Orleans for this story and Rice's profound kanck for making you feel like you are in the thick of her settings.

Some of the passages tend to be a little long-winded. Much like master story-teller Stephen King, there are times when reading this author's work when you feel tempted to skim ahead to the next bit of action.

Engrossed. The scenes with Lasher made my skin crawl, yet those were the times I felt the most riveted.

Has an incredible imagination and a knack for making you feel for her characters. I felt pity for this alarming creature.

It is an epic tale of sorts. Once you start reading it, you won't want to stop. It has a little something for fans of every genre, be it romance, spine-tingling horror, action, drama, or well-defined characters and settings.

It is long and there are times people with short attention spans may feel tempted to skim. If you can sit through it though, it pays off ten-fold in the end!
