This book came about after Dr. Brian Weiss, a traditional psychotherapist, treated a patient with hypnosis. He was astonished and skeptical when she began recalling past-life experiences which seemed to hold the key to her recurring nightmares and anxieties. He went on to use past-life therapy to cure the patient and embark on a new, more meaningful phase of his own career. The book documents the sessions with this patient, and includes direct transcripts of the sessions. Under hypnosis, Dr. Weiss was able to repeatedly bring the patient to the "end" of a life where, "in the space between lives," she channeled massages from the Masters/God.

Anyone searching for understanding of why we live our lives in the fashion we do will benefit from this unique perspective.

The transcripts from the recorded sessions when the patient was under hypnosis are fascinating to read. The historical accuracy she describes of cultures and places she had never had contact with are astounding.

I feel hopeful when I read this book. My spirituality came into sharp focus for me while reading it for the first time.

Brian Weiss, M.D., has written several books since this one on the topic. A man of science, Dr. Weiss' skeptical and analytic examination of past-life regression lends credibility to the subject.

At the very least, this book is remarkably thought-provoking. I recommend it to anyone regardless of faith or creed.
