Summary of this Book...
Kate Holden takes us through an incredible journey of a once shy child who blossoms into adulthood in the worst possible way. College brings new friends and boyfriends and with them comes drugs. Soon Kate ends up addicted to heroin. As the addiction becomes worst and worst, she looses her job and her life falls apart. Somehow, though, she manages to go on.

Kate takes us through her numerous failed attempts at recovery. She takes us through the drug deals and the dark streets. And then she takes us through her journey as a prostitute.

She starts out by hokking on the steets for enough money to feed herself and her boyfriend with the drug. She barley scrapes by, working herself hard at night. Finally she catches a break and discovers the local brothels. Moving her way up into the ranks, she works her way through 3 different brothels, finally ending up at a high class place as one of their most prized girls. She makes good money and keeps herself clean and wallows in the glamour of it all while still trying to keep the secret of her addiction.

Finally she finds her way through with the help of her family and Methidone.
This type of Book is good for...
Women who have battled through things like addiction and dead-beat men.

It is a great "candle light and bubble bath" feel-good book.
I especially liked...
The stories Kate told about some of the men she had encountered while working in the brothel. She talked about men whom she became friends with and actually looked foward to their appointments, and men who scared her. The best scene in my opinion, the scene that made me curse outloud, was when she went to stay at her parents to get away from her dead-beat boyfriend who was just dragging her down. She took her hard earned money and enough smack to last her through her stay, and then the boyfriend climbs in her window and sneaks and takes it all. Honestly, with all he drained her off through the story, I wanted to find him and beat him myself.
I didn't like...
This book kind of lagged in alot of parts. There is an obvious jump from chapters upon chapters filled with heroin use to chapters upon chapters of prostitution.
When I finished reading this Book I wanted to...
smile. It really does have a feel-good happily-ever-after endings and it makes you feel empowered as a woman.
This Book made me feel...
Well, it made me feel a bunch of things. At first I felt intrigue, the prologue got me real interested in the book. There were a few times I felt bored with the lagging repetitivness and lack of action. But, overall it made me feel warm inside with it's positive ending and hopefullness.
The author of this Book...
is a strong, incredible, enduring woman. Not many people come out of things like that.
I recommend this Book because...
it's a great feel-good novel.
I don't recommend this Book because...
If you're quickly and easily bored, this isn't the book for you.
