Summary of this Book...
Jeffrey Gingold, a former lawyer, chronicles his own path into the disabling features of MS, particularly those dealing with cognitive issues. Written like a layman and not a lawyer, Gingold does a wonderful job portraying the difficulties MS can have on the patient, his family, his work and his friends. A wonderful read!
This type of Book is good for...
For MS patients worried about little issues they seem to be having with their mental abilities and for families and friends of the same.
I especially liked...
How Gingold went from his first instance of cognitive problems to his methods for dealing with them, once he started to understand them. The writing was easy to read, not technical jargon.
When I finished reading this Book I wanted to...
tell all my friends and family about this book. It explained so much of what I am personally going through.
This Book made me feel...
like I was not stupid, deficient or any of the other loss of self-esteem tendencies this type of MS causes. It gave me a reason behind the madness and hope for working through the limitations.
The author of this Book...
was a married, former lawyer who developed MS with cognitive issues, eventually causing his early retirement. He became an advocate for the National MS Society and peer support for the same.
I recommend this Book because...
it helped me to acknowledge and accept many of the difficulties I am dealing with in my own battles with MS. It is so clearly presented and so well-written I believe it will help others in the same way it helped me.
Further Comments...
If you or a loved one has MS, whether or not there is indication of difficulties in "thinking", "remembering", "organization" or "speaking", I strongly urge you to read this book. Many doctors do not recognize or treat these issues with MS and the number of individuals suffering from them is staggering.
