Summary of this Book...
A hundred mole years have passed since the first trilogy of the Duncton Chronicles. The Word is no longer a threat, but a new danger looms in an extremist sect of The Stone. The characters from the first trilogy have passed on, but their memory lives on. We are given new characters too, foremost of which are the mysterious Privet, fleeing from her past, and powerful Rooster, Master of the Delve. William Horwood retains his talent for detailed characterisation and hugely entertaining fantasy. Although this book is much more reflective than the first series, it is doubtlessly a treasure.
This type of Book is good for...
Fantasy lovers, animal lovers, anyone who just enjoys a good story!
I especially liked... | ||
William Horwood's usual fastiduous attention to detail and amazing characters, reminiscent of our modern lives and problems.
When I finished reading this Book I wanted to...
Read the final two volumes.
This Book made me feel...
Not quite as emotional as the first three, but not a long way off.
The author of this Book...
Is William Horwood, author of the first Ducton series - Duncton Wood, Duncton Quest and Duncton Found, and the second series of Duncton Tales, Duncton Rising and Duncton Stone. His other books include the Willows In Winter series, two books of The Wolves Of Time, The Stonor Eagles, Callanish and Skallagrigg.
I recommend this Book because...
If you've read the first trilogy you don't even have to ask. William Horwood is a truly gifted author who bring characters vividly to life: read one and you have to read them all.
