Summary of this DVD... | ||
This movie is very much akin to the classic film Logan's Run. Set in the near future it investigates the moral implications of cloning a human being. The clones are not aware of what they are, but instead told they are survivors of a world-wide disaster. Living underground, their lives excessively monitored and controled they are told that the lucky few could win a lottery which rewards the victor with a one-way trip to the Island, the sole remaining location on earth that is inhabitable. Of course this is not true, instead the victor is owned by the person of whom they were cloned, every Island winner is merely a victim of their owner collecting on their investment, such as the owner needing a new heart etc. Eventually a curious clone makes it to the surface, and works out pretty quickly things are NOT what they seem. This leads to a daring escape, and the ultermate realisation of what he really is. The conclusion of the film is the underground facility being destroyed and the remainder of the clones being liberated.
This type of DVD is good for...
It is good for keeping, good piece of escapism.
I especially liked... | ||
Ethen Phillips (Star Trek Voyager) played an excellent role, a paranoid and lovable clone, his performance makes the film well worth watching.
I didn't like... | ||
It seemed to lack the type of surprise that should have been expressed by the clones as they encountered the outside world for the first time. There should have been more scenes where they got confused, didn't fit in, or didn't get things quite right like all the normal people.
When I finished viewing this DVD I wanted to...
Watch it again, but not right away.
This DVD made me feel...
Good, impressed, happy to finally see a good wholesome sci fi for once.
The cast of this DVD... | ||
Definitely Ethen Phillips A+++
