Summary of this Book...
The heroes of the Rebellion have faced impossible odds and triumphed over an evil Empire, a host of warlords, dark Jedi and an alien menace from beyond the boundaries of the known galaxy. Time and again they have pulled victory from the furnace jaws of defeat, but this time they face the most grim and daunting foe yet. Each other. In this stunning opening to a new nine-part series, the Star Wars universe comes full-circle as civil war looms on the horizon. As events spin further out of control, allies and even family members find themselves on opposite sides of a deadly conflict and are forced to make terrible, irrevocable choices. Nothing in the GAAF will ever be the same. And most ominous of all, the Sith rise again after vanishing from the Force for decades, and the new face of the Sith is a familiar one.

Further Comments... | ||
Let me be the first to say, I hated what the Star Wars books and movies have become: pointless non-literature with all the savor of discount potato chips with a fancy, respectable label slapped on. With this in mind, imagine my joy at finally finding one I can recommend. I want to shout it from the rooftops! It’s rare for a new SW book to engage me like this one has, but there is a quality to the characters and their adventures that make me believe that, yes, these are indeed our old friends from the original trilogy, back in top form. However, this time they aren’t fighting aliens or Imperials, but friends and comrades. People they know best, and who can hurt them the worst. Finally, as has been hinted, one of the ‘family’ turns to the dark side, and it is everything Anakin’s turning should have been. The book is as much an exploration of this character’s journey as it is a tale of the others’ adventures, and the reader learns that turning to the dark side is much more than just a matter of losing your temper. At the same time, the character retains some sympathy. Through the book, this characters is again and again forced to make impossible choices. How can the other characters pass judgement over this one when they wouldn’t be alive to do so had those choices been otherwise? All-in-all, a strong start and highly recommended.
