In a book about the discovery of spirtual and emotional enlightenment, two main characters are faced with the challenges of both religion and the race of man. While the seemingly good man turns must face the devilish aspects of life, and the sinful man must get through the 'horrors of good', both are thrust in to potentially great and awesome situations that they might never escape.

Those who love to read classics more than once. This book is so full of symbolism and deeper meanings that it should be read much more than once.

The characters. They each represent a certain aspect in every human: from the primal urges of teenagers to the sophisticated longings of older, more experienced humans, these characters reach into the depths of human existance.

There was nothing I didn't like....(This is one of my favorite books!)

Read it again. There were some things I didn't get the full meaning of until I read it the second time over.

Connected to my soul. It's a deep tale of self-exploration.

is Salman Rushdie. He, himself, is a very interesting person to look up and research. If you didn't know it, he's in hiding for writing this book. Read an article about it; a very interesting man.

It's not an easy read-this book is the EXAMPLE of the perfect literary masterpiece. It explores not just the art of storytelling, but storytelling with MEANING behind it: something only few authors have been able to pull off.

If you don't like long reads, don't try it.

I loved this book because it made me think. If you like Nicolas Sparks or Mary Higgins Clark-this book isn't for you. All you Hemmingway and Dante readers out there: read this!
