Summary of this Book...
Twig was raised by a family of woodtrolls in a forest village where the other kids made fun of his long, lanky frame. (How very un-woodtroll-y!) Then he sets off to stay with an uncle and does what no woodtroll ever does. He strays from the path. Thank goodness he's not really a woodtroll.
This type of Book is good for...
Throwing off the chains of adulthood and remembering the joy of getting lost in a story full of imagination and wonder. Or, if you happen to be in the 9-12 age group, hurry up and dive in before it's only cool to read the big fat books!
I especially liked... | |||
The way the plot seemed to meander, but tied together at the end so wonderfully.
I didn't like... | |||
That I didn't have this book when I was younger.
This Book made me feel...
Younger. It really took me back to my nonsensical, fantastical days when princes strolled along beside streams "just 'cause" then ran into the unicorn that was really a fair maiden. Not that this story was anything like that, but that it puts you in that "anything is possible and no world is out of reach" mindset. A great read for the stagnant writer. Seriously. No matter who you are.
The author of this Book...
Did a wonderful job with creating new races, places, and even plant life. Imagine wood that yells when you burn it or wood that floats. How about rocks that lift off into the sky when they "grow" big enough? Paul Stewart takes you to a glorious world of life on the edge (literally, if you look at the map) that I can't wait to visit again.
