Summary of this Book...
This book is Dr Jamison's autobiography of her manic-depression. She begins her story back in her earlier days and gradually brings the ferocious story of her madness on as the book progresses. She later becomes a psychiatrist, wholly missing the fact that she is manic-depressive.
This type of Book is good for...
Dr Jamison could potentially save, if not change, the lives of many, whether mentally ill or not.
I especially liked... | ||
As an aspiring psychologist I was amused by everything, but the best parts took place during her slightly more cured years. She fell in love with a British soldier, studied for a semester in Scotland, and practically healed during these times. It was a fantastic experience to feel almost as if you were healing with her.
I didn't like... | ||
Some of the details were extreme.
When I finished reading this Book I wanted to...
Write a psychology book of my own!
This Book made me feel...
I felt every bit of the madness leak through the pages into me.
I recommend this Book because...
It is excellent for those who can identify with Dr Jamison and it is a first-hand learning experience for those who know nothing of the life of the mentally ill.
I don't recommend this Book because...
It may be extreme in some parts.
