Summary of this Book...
What happens to our physical bodies after death? This book takes the reader on a journey through the various events and situations that happen to a human cadaver. From burials and cremations to medical and scientific use of cadavers.
This type of Book is good for...
Anyone who has an interest and fascination for what happens to us after we are dead. More importantly, anyone who wants to know the facts rather than the hype. In some respects it makes for an excellent educational aid and promotes an interest in further research, whether it be in the historical or scientific side.
I especially liked...
Roach has included a lot of historical information on the use of cadavers, especially their use in anatomy and scientific research. Her treatment of the subject is easy to understand and enhanced with a good sense of humour, where appropriate, that had me chuckling. There are no photographs in this book but there is no need of them; Roach's excellent writing makes up for the lack, making the book a serious treatment of the subject matter rather than one of unecessary kicks.
The author of this Book...
Roach is a journalist by trade and has researched the subject thoroughly and with thought.
Further Comments...
I found I was unable to put the book down, not because it was gratuitous and fiendish but, rather, because of its treatment of the subject matter. To say the content is interesting is an understatement. Roach has thoroughly researched the subject matter and arranged it in chapters discussing the different ways cadavers are used. There is no gratuitousness in this book. However, she has not shied away from the facts but portrayed them with honesty.

Although this book is gruesome in parts, it describes what actually happens to our bodies after death has occured. It is not for the faint hearted and those who don't wish to know the hard facts should give the book a wide berth.
