Summary of this Book...
An eccentric millionaire decides to create an amusement park filled with prehistoric dinosaurs brought back to life by modern science. He brings in experts to check out the park before opening when things start happening.
This type of Book is good for...
people who love a suspenseful (if not somewhat farfetched) peice of SF or fellow dinosaur enthusiasts.
I especially liked... | ||
the blatant sarcasm of Malcom the mathmatician. He has to win an award for the most blantantly sarcastic cynical character in literary history. Oddly enough this quirk was totally endearing to me. Also the book was written from the very first chapter to set you up for a sequel which to me just proves Chichton's unique genius. This isn;t mentionign at all the fact it was absolutely thrilling edge-of-your-seat type of a book with little flecks of philisophy mixed in.
I didn't like... | ||
the fact the mathmatician died and the children lived. The children were irritating and as horrible as it sounds nothing would have made me happier then for them to have an unfortuneate accident with a big snarley reptile. The mathmatician I hear came back in the sequel with no explination though so I'm happy. He is the conscience of the story afterall.
When I finished reading this Book I wanted to...
read the sequel, which I haven't yet!
This Book made me feel...
thrilled, pondrous, repulsed, sickened, entertained, and exhausted in a good way.
The author of this Book...
really does his best work when dinosaurs are involved I think. I've read some other of his works which are great too but this one takes the cake.
I recommend this Book because...
it's fast paced and far more entertaining and at times fascinating then the movie.
I don't recommend this Book because...
people who don't like learning about scientific theory and having it melded with a story won't appreciate it much.
