Summary of this Book...
A true story about Barbara Moss, a girl growing up in poverty in 1950s-1970s Alabama. As a small girl, due to malnutrition and lack of medical care, Barbara's face and body begin to grow into mummy-like porportions. She is teased in school about her moles and her crooked teeth. Barbara gets a job and with her paycheck gets the moles removed. Later on, her mother finds a way to get Barbara braces. With that out of the way, Barbara's face still looks like a mummy. It isn't until a man tells her to put a bag over her face, that Barbara sigs up for experimental plastic surgery and comes out looking like a goddess, which scares her.
