Summary of this DVD... | ||
Meet Freddy Krueger: a manic, bloodthirsty monster who kills kids in their dreams for an unknown reason; in desperate need of anger management and a good shower. Charming. He must be a hit with the ladies. The opening scene is Krueger trying to slice a girl to ribbons with rusty knives. Then, the girl wakes up and finds that where Mr. Krueger tried to stab her in her nightmare there is a large rip on her nightdress. Ooooh scary. That is really what the rest of the film is like. I.e. you don’t actually know if you’re watching a dream or real life in movie world. Don’t be fooled, though, the plot is (gasp!) well thought out, original and has a very clever revelation in the middle of it. The main character is a teenager called Nancy, who starts off looking her age and towards the end of the film starts to look like she’s in her late forties, (but film is supposed to only last about a couple of weeks). She has been haunted by the horrific deaths around her and is determined to survive Krueger’s killing spree. Will she solve the mystery? Will she find the secret so her walls don’t get splattered with blood? Is there even a mystery or has Nancy just gone nuts?

Further Comments... | ||
This is a film that is exclusively for people with strong stomachs only. There are many horrific scenes and parts where you’re not quite sure if this person is sleeping or not. This is your typical horror film – a chase around the street with girl screaming for her life in the middle of the night without getting shouted at for disturbing the peace; a quick run up the stairs, with the girl still screaming for her life; and it leaves it open for a sequel. No horror movie is quite right unless it is open for a sequel. This is a must see for scary movie admirers. And for those who don’t watch every horror film that comes out – watch it, this is the best these creepy Krueger centred films are ever going to get. Enjoy the film.
