Summary of this Book...
This is the eighth in the Hamish McBeth mystery series. It is my favorite so far. Life for Hamish has been going downhill ever since he was promoted to sergeant. He may be the last truly unambitious man, and he misses life as a constable. Now he has to share his little cottage/police station with an obsessive underling named, Willie who makes ridiculous malaprops, and is more concerned with cleaning than with police work. Then the peaceful Scottish village of Lochdubh gets invaded by a drifter and his foul-mouthed girlfriend. Drugs and money go missing soon after, but Hamish can't seem to pin anything on the "traveller". The minister begins to lose his faith, and neighbors start to turn against each other. Hamish can't understand why everyone likes the traveller so much. He knows that he's to blame for all the problems, and he wishes he would leave. His wish comes true all too soon however, when he is found murdered. Somebody didn't like him much after all. Hamish should feel relieved, but in finding the killer he may have to implicate people he has known for years.
This type of Book is good for...
A cozy night, or when you are feeling sick and need a pick me up.
I especially liked... | ||
Hamish McBeth. He has to be one the most lovable characters ever created, and he is always in some sort of trouble. Yes, he's lazy, but can you really blame him? He likes life in the quiet little village. Besides he's always the one that solves the murders while his superiors take the credit. Another thing I love is how she has a different quote at the start of every chapter that perfectly fits. I love it when authors do that.

Hamish McBeth is one character every one should know. Also the author is from Scotland, and she vividly describes life there including the local dialect.
