Summary of this CDs & Vinyl...
Breaking Benjamin is an excellent modern metal band. Their style is very similar to that of the band Trapt. In today's world of music, rock is considered the fast paced post-grunge sounds of bands like Disturbed, Cold, and Chevelle. Breaking Benjamin contributes to that type of rock with their opening song, an occasional radio song with an okay video, "So Cold." They back up this style with a couple more songs, though none are really as hard as "So Cold." The song is also extended from the radio version, with the sounds in the opening carrying on a bit longer. Following "So Cold" is an alternative rock type of song, "Simple Design." The chorus is a nice touch, and is the real introduction into the flow of the album. "Follow" is the next song on the list. It sounds similar to simple design, but it is different enough to keep interest. "Follow" is becoming my favorite song on the album. The rest of the CD stays true to the rythm set by "Simple Design" and "Follow." They sound enough alike to blend nicely, but at the same time fluxuate between harder and softer to keep them from sounding exactly the same. The final song, "Rain," is a very soft, slow, somewhat emotional song. It is a welcomed break and slows down the adrenaline brought on by the songs before it. It is a nice way to end the album. Overall, Breaking Benjamin's "We Are Not Alone" is a nice album to listen to anytime for any reason.
This type of CDs & Vinyl is good for...
Working out your emotions. The tunes are hard enough to help you work out anger. But there are also songs that are paced well enough to mellow out a depression.
I especially liked... | ||
The way "So Cold" is slightly longer on the album than on the radio. It was a nice surprise that I wasn't expecting. I also like the way the album ends, with a nice slow song. The sound effects in the album, such as the sound of running water during the chorus of "Rain" or sirens or other such things is a nice touch.
I didn't like... | ||
The way the song slowly goes from extremely hard to very soft and mellow. The opening and endings were good, everything in the middle could have been mixed a bit more. About halfway through the CD it all starts to sound the same.

The n/a of this CDs & Vinyl...
Is very talented. Before the band was signed, two of the players dropped out of their band which was already signed with a major record company to join with Breaking Benjamin. They made a good decision, as the band is very talented. I have heard music from their other album, "Saturate," and enjoy that too. It may be added on to my buying list as well. After only a few days of listening to this band, I already consider Ben Burnley (lead singer) one of the greatest vocalists I've ever heard.
I recommend this CDs & Vinyl because...
Anyone who likes modern rock or alternative rock would enjoy this. Fans of Trapt or Three Days Grace would especially enjoy this CD. Anyone who tends to be emotional or perhaps going through a tough time in their life may also find this soothing. But regardless of mood, it's still great to pop into a CD player and rock out to full volume.
I don't recommend this CDs & Vinyl because...
It fades from hard to soft, and may not keep the attention of an average listener. Unless you are a big fan of the band or genre, you may end up drifting off. Also, anyone that doesn't like hard rock wouldn't like this.
Further Comments... | ||
Breaking Benjamin is a great band in general. My tastes in music are usually limited to 70s and 80s hair metal. This is a rare band that appeals to my tastes even though they follow a very very modern style. Anyone who can do that is automatically a great band.
