After a stroke, Thom Kindred decides to return to the place he grew up: Little Bracken, a cottage on the terrain of Castle Bracken. He returns trying to find home, and peace.

The magic of his childhood does return to him. But there's also evil in the woods surrounding Little Bracken - and the evil is also out to get Thom.

I recommend this book to all readers who like fairy tales and fantasy.

The author has a beautiful way of describing scenery, so that you can practically see it and smell the flowers.

I wanted to write, and I did.

I felt awestruck after reading this book. The author is descriptive without presumption, thrills and charms seemingly without any effort. It was brilliant.

James Herbert - other books of his include 'The Fog', 'Shrine' and 'Haunted'.

Apart from it's length - it's far too short! - there's nothing wrong with this book. It's a lovely read, a gateway to a world of fairies and demons, that completely convinces you.
