Summary of this Book...
To quote the back of this book as I am uncertain as to how to summarize it. "We have all been here before..... The word karma has made it into the mainstream. But not everyone knows what it really means or how to deal with it. This insightful book will help you come to grips with karmic connections from past lives that have helped create the circumstances of your life today. You'll discover how your actions in past lives-good and bad-affect which family you're born into, who you're attracted to, and why some people put you on the edge. you'll learn about group karma, what we do between lives and what the great lights of East and West, including Jesus, have to say about karma and reincarnation. Most of all, you'll find out how to turn your karmic encounters into grand opportunities to shape the future you want." A very eloquent quote, I might add. I could try but it would never match that short, sweet summary.
This type of Book is good for...
This book was good for me in the fact that I found it not long after a traumatic death in my family. It was a hard blow to my reality and left me questioning my faith. Searching through the bookstore to find my little moment of escape from reality I came across this book. Something about it just drew me in saying that I had to read this. So I guess you can say after the death of a child a person such as myself can still find purpose in life. Even if I feel it's not the natural order in things. I learned to live with the unfairness in life, this book not only confirmed my beliefs but it cemented the fact that I'm more of a liberal and spiritual Christian. I'm not the religious type.
I especially liked... | ||
I especially liked the confirmation of an afterlife according to Part 2: Life Between Lives. Not only giving me something to look forward to in the afterlife but also leading me towards my writing career into the supernatural. (Still working on that.)
I didn't like... | ||
Part 4: Prayers and Affirmations, though I'm not particuarly good at prayer they gave suggestions that I can use in my journaling and meditations. The affirmations I had to rewrite to suit my needs but other than that I suppose anyone could make this chapter work for them.
When I finished reading this Book I wanted to...
Give back a little of what I receive. I wanted to make things right with my family. I wanted to see my mother be happy she seemed to be affected the most by the family loss. I especially wanted to see my middle sister succeed in life, she lost a child and yet somehow grew stronger, I want more for her than anything in this world to be happy.
This Book made me feel...
Sad but happy at the same time, I'd never felt a stronger sense that my nephew was with me. Hugging me when I needed it most, the warm feeling of not only his arms but his heart wrapped around me warming me in a way that no one else could.
The author of this Book...
is a genius. Well, are geniuses it's written by Elizabeth Prophet and Patricia Spadaro. Two wonderful women I'm sure.
I recommend this Book because...
it definitely leaves way for growth and movement in life. Once you have a momentum built up you have to go with it.
I don't recommend this Book because...
if you don't believe in the afterlife or karma don't read it. Don't waste your money on something you're not going to read.
