Lennie (John Malkovich) and George (Gary Sinise), two men living life on the run during the Great Depression, take jobs as farmhands to raise money to fulfill their dreams of living the quiet life. They find trouble in the form of Curly (Casey Siemaszko), a hot tempered bully, and his wife (Sherilyn Fenn), a lonely seductress with her eye on more than one of the farmhands. The powerful friendship of Lennie and George is the central focus of the tale. Their friendship holds true right up until the inevitably tragic end.
